If I'm remembering right, this is my 3rd year as an Eva fan and it's been one hell of a ride so far...I hope that it's a ride that won't stop for many years to come. ^_^ Before getting into the series, I was interested in getting into it, since I knew the psychological aspect would interest me, though I shied away from it (save for a dub tape of episodes 5 & 6 I borrowed from a friend in High School. Not having watched the series from the first episode left me too confused to go on...And this was only Prologue Arc!) because the "shounen-anime" (Boy's anime) aspect scared me off. I was also under the impression that Anno was some pompous Egocentric maniac, which didn't help any.

This is coming from an anime-fan who had been introduced to anime thanks to the great "old-school" shows like Sailor Moon (my first love), Robotech, and Voltron, but unfortunately being busy with high school and not really having a lot of knowledge of what anime was good and what sucked left me in the dark until College. I finally was able to watch it again-Episode 03 on Adult Swim-and was instantly hooked.

Getting the first two volumes of Platinum that Christmas, and watching the rest of the series and films online the following year, I knew that anime fans were right in saying Eva is one of the most important series out there. Weather it's the best or the worst is, of course, for you to decide. Having watched all of the series, I ended up thinking Anno was a genius. The fact that he was fighting Depression before and while making the series also resonated with me, as it's something that Shinji goes through.

My personal favorite character is Shinji, because I can really relate to him due to suffering from anxiety and depression, myself. (Although I'm supposedly getting better and thankfully don't have to worry about any Angstyness in regards to piloting a "Mecha".) However, I'm one of those weird unusual fans who likes all Three Children (Shinji, Asuka, Rei) and in terms of the adults, Misato's my favorite. My favorite pairings potential couple-wise and couple-wise are Shinji/Asuka and Kaji/Misato. Fan-pairing-wise, I like Rei/Kaworu and Ritsuko/Maya.

My favorite aspects of the series are the psychological mind trips and the characters themselves. I strongly believe in Yui's near final scene lines that things will be alright and there are chances for happiness everywhere. Not only can this be applied to Shinji and Asuka (as well as the rest of humanity that has yet to return) at Eva's ending, but it's also good point about the real world, too. Even if life may seem difficult or sad, pain never has pleasure that far behind. ^_^

I also greatly enjoy the duel nature of EoTV (Episodes 25 and 26) and EoE (Episodes 25' and 26'), which I happen to see as concurrent with EoTV being the mental aspect of Pre-Instrumentality while EoE is the physical. However, I know the endings don't have to be seen as literally concurrent and can simply be seen as complimentary instead. It's mostly a personal preference of thinking both endings have equal importance as opposed to one being in higher authority than the other. As well as the fact both just seem to fit together more or less perfectly like a puzzle.

Oh, and you mustn't refer to Kaworu-kun as female (like yours truly does), or else the other Lilin will laugh at you. ;)

In Real Life

I'm finishing up my 4th year of Community College this Spring and will be going to University in Fall 08. I'm enjoy some Anime & Manga, which is usually watch/read in my spare time. (I'm more of an old-school fan, mostly because I don't have the time or money to get into all the newer shows.)

Personality-wise, I'm more or less a female Shinji with some Asuka traits (mostly when it comes to getting mad about things).

My top 5 favorite anime would have to be: 1) NGE 2) Pretty Soldier Sailormoon 3) Marmalade Boy 4) Excel Saga 5) Gravitation (I guess there's a little Yaoi Fangirl in us all?? Though I personally prefer Yuri over Yaoi.)

However, I’m also a fan of Ebichu Minds the House, Ah! My Goddess, Read or Die OVA, Magic Knight Rayearth, Azumanga Daioh, Card Captor Sakura, and probably some others that I can’t recall at the moment. I like reading Manga as well, but that’s really series and volume wise depending, as opposed to anime which I’ll try to watch whatever I think I’ll like.

Other things I like to do in my spare time is writing fanfiction (so far only Usagi/Mamoru (Sailormoon) and Shinji/Asuka (Eva) stories), spending time with friends, listening to music, Studying Japanese, practice singing, reading, chilling on the Internet (Homestar Runner FTW! ^_^), playing video games, watching certain (older lol) Sitcoms (The Simpsons, South Park, Family Guy, Will and Grace, Just Shoot Me, The Golden Girls, Lil Bush, just to name a few) and Britcoms (Are You Being Served?, Keeping up Appearances, My Hero, Waiting for God, Monty Python's Flying Circus as well as the Monty Python movies, etc) and chilling my two cats, Timmy and Butters. ^_^

Some random tidbits: I wear glasses and I'm left-handed. Also, I don't drink, smoke, or do drugs mostly because I feel like I'm screwed up enough as it is; I don't need any of that other stuff to make things even worse.

I'm Bisexual—though currently single—because I want to "Take Care of Myself" first before getting involved with anyone. Spirituality-wise, I'm Christian—technically Catholic—but am on the Liberal side of things (For instance, I believe in Creation-Centered Spirituality (Original Blessing) and Theistic Evolution) in regards to Life, the Universe, and Everything (...42).
