You can even see the smoke going up past Rei's cockpit (That was before she charged Zer with the N2 bomb and after that lout blasted around). All those three looks. "Next!" "Totsugeki!" and "KOROSU!" are plainly from the same battle.

Misato slapping Ritsuko looks like either after Leliel or in Episode 20 (maybe the 1st one?) And those things in GG's glasses were....birds. Birds of all stupid things. :( I was hoping for JSSDF flying wings or harpies.

I'm wondering if GG gets involved with the battle against Zeruel now, that might explain why her Eva is in such a dark shot.

And as for Eva-06...what's with the bulge in the middle? Wierd!

Did the preliminary design that included horns also have them along the neck like in the new picture?

Horns along the neck? Those are Eva-02's little "cheek wings"; they were always there.

judging from the picture, perhaps these "horns" are actually a brace, part of the parachute mechanism, and not part of Eva-02 itself...

No. Just went through the cut frame-by-frame, and they're definitely projections off the actual helmet.

That kinda makes Eva 02 more menacing, powerful and dangerous to opponents. If you ask me, if looks like the Devil's daughter due to the overall colouring of red on its armour. And how Asuka personality's like.

This way, one can appreciate the design of this new Evangelion. I like it better than I thought by just watching the trailer.

This thing and Jet Alone? Totally different entities.

Compression from the rough cuts aside, the torso is clearly alien in appearance. Long, with a bulge in the middle. There's a strange, stinger-like protrusion between the legs, and that makes the subtle insectoid appearance of the torso explicit.

EDIT: Does anyone else think that Eva-06 is the closest in design to the old Evangelions? Broad shoulders, pinched body? The funny mid-torso bulge with the visible split-line covers the solar plexus too, it might be additional armor to cover the big, protrusive core!

That's not a 'strange stinger-like' protrusion, all of the Evas have a similar crotch-blade.

I've never seen Eva crotch armor look that pointy before.

And Reichu said the same thing about it looking like Shredder. I think it looks more like cross between a Covenant Elite(from the Halo videogame) and Boba Fett.

I wasn't initially that impressed with the design, but looking at it all at once like this, I can appreciate how alien it is. I still don't know if I like the head, though.
