You guys are used to the age before online encyclopedias and such when discussion was handled on the boards, and largely up to interpretation. years upon years of study forged LOTR into DEFINATIVE areas of certainty and uncertainty, through print publications etc. Essentially, they wound it down to "ok, we're not sure if Balrogs have wings or not, here's the arguement for and against each version. We cannot achieve a definative version from this evidence" The goal is to just achieve this same end result, really really fast.
Of course, my stated goal for writing this is "imagine that Weta Workshop is going to have to read this when they make a live action Eva film, and we're educating complete newbies about the show"
