Unknown actress Samantha Bianchini is rumored to be considered in new movie as Rei. You can see her picture on imdb. She looks like she could play Rei. Still a rumor though, But its been buzzing everywhere!!!

Now, this is interesting.

Googling for Samantha Bianchini brings up an IMDB page (she's been in an amateur horror film) and an article from a community college near Ft. Worth, TX about her acting in a theater production.

The post came from an IP address in the Ft. Worth area, too.

Of course, ADV is based in Houston, TX and recruits many of their voice actors from Texas.

Shameless self-promotion? Probably, but something is going on.

I find this questionable at best.

I don't know, if she is already cast for a movie, doesn't that mean that a movie is going to happen? Wouldn't we have heard confirmation on the movie before the casting call? That is usually how that works, you know.

I bet she is promoting herself mainly. But we shall wait and see. Maybe a studio picked the movie up secretly and this is the first public news? i won't get my hopes up that high, but tis interesting.

erm... not to be a backseat mod or anything, but shouldn't this topic be in Everything Else Evangelion? News and Feedback is for News and Feedback about this BBS, not for news about movie realeses. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Edit: a mod beat me to it. Thanks!

this will not be taken seriously by me until a director is announced, until this a rumor that's not more credible than the ancient "Daniel Ratcliffe as Shinji and Lindsey Lohan as Asuka" rumor

It really looks like someone is trying to start a rumor here... what makes it interesting (despite the poor grammar) is its geographic connection to ADV. I remember Matt Greenfield saying last month at Otakon that that specific part of Texas was the place to be for people interested in getting into the American anime industry (several other companies besides ADV have offices there).

But there's a huge difference between casting for ADR voice acting and casting for an "A-level" Hollywood film, so who knows. Either someone "on the inside" is messing with us, or Ms. Bianchini is attempting to borrow an auditioning technique from "Bender Should Not be Allowed on TV":

CASTING DIRECTOR
Well there is a robot named Bender here but he's much too old -

CALCULON
Send him in forthwith!

[Cut to: Outside All My Circuits Casting Office. Bender is right outside the door.]

BENDER
(shouting) Boo! Not as good as Bender! Boo!

Wiki says:

"At Anime Expo 2008, ADV founders Matt Greenfield and John Ledford, in response to a question over the progress of the live action movie, revealed they had hired the producer for Appleseed Ex Machina, Joseph Chu, and pitched the idea to other producers such as Jerry Bruckheimer and Steven Spielberg.[6] They went on to say that interest in the project had been boosted by the success of the 2007 film Transformers."

It's doubtful they're casting when the film has only just been pitched.
They'll need to sort out the smaller details (LIKE SCRIPT) before they even think of who's playing who.

a first-post ever new person announced that a random, too-old actress would be a live-action Rei, without any support or evidence whatsoever.

The "we want Bender" effect, indeed.

She has the looks to pull off Ritsuko maybe, but nor Rei.

Regardless, this is a heaping mound of bullshit.

Shouldn't everyone be played by Japanese actors?

Well they are trying to "Americanize" it, so no, no Japanese. Well, maybe a few, like Shinji. Someone brought this question up in another thread a while back, maybe Reichu can direct you??? Cause I have no idea where, but I know I responded to it somewheres.

@ LeoXiao: No. "Know thy audience."

I'm wondering where "everywhere" is. This is news to me; and it doesn't seem like anyone else has heard this before.

animegeek2009, are you going to actually answer our questions?

So NGE will be set in New York 3?

The whole Americanization thing is totally lame.
