Looks like Funimation might be getting Rebuild.

Scattered through Funimation's website are little postcards. They contain hints as to what they've recently licensed. One such postcard

quite obviously refers to Evangelion.

So yeah. Funimation most definitely has Webuild.

(Among other things they supposedly picked up are Soul Eater, Gankutsuo, Edo Rocket, Vandread, and Ikki Tousen)

What I find strange about what some of the shows that people have brought up is that they're already licensed (like Vandread, although that's a Geneon title).

excuse me, but how is "Angie, Eli, and you"....in ANY way, an "obvious" reference to Evangelion?

....or is it the forced audio similarity between "Eve, Angie, Eli" and "Evangelion?"

Well, what else could it be?

Of course, as someone over at AoD pointed out, in theory it is possible that Funi is trolling us hard, and that the hint actually refers to Hetalia Axis Powers ("Hey Talia") being pre-licensed.

Well, since it says New Years, we're probably gonna have til then. Though I wonder, how many of these cards are there, and are we sure only one hint would be used per card?

There's ten titles and only like seven clues, so I'm betting that Hetalia and Evangelion 1.0 are in this one.

if they do license REBUILD (and I hope they do), I sincerely wish as a current non Blu-Ray owning consumer that Funimation won't pull a GUNBUSTER and DIEBUSTER movie trick and ONLY release a Blu-Ray version of the film.

Cause that would suck.

....Until I get Blu-Ray...

So apparently FUNIMATION just licensed a show that had been held by Geneon years ago.

What if (and this is just to throw a monkey wrench in people's thinking)- what if the EVANGELION they're hinting at isn't Rebuild but.....

Funi is taking over a number of old Geneon titles, since they're not around anymore. There's no way ADV and Manga will give up the rights to the Evangelion TV series and EoE/Death.

Funi has also rescued a bunch of series from the botched ADV-Sojitz deal, but like Ornette said, ADV won't let go of Eva, which is probably their biggest cash cow.

Today's series is Vandread, which is also a license rescue. Looks like Funi is saving any actually new licenses for the grande finale.
