Evangelion Inspired Tea at Adagio

TheBeast_AdagioTeasThis is something you don’t see every day. Over at Adagio Teas, Kelly Rodgers has created a blend inspired by Evangelion’s Mari Illustrious Makinami called “The Beast“. It looks like it’s a blend of Earl Grey, with some chocolate chips and hazelnut.

From the description of the tea:

Sweet and tangy and just a little nutty. A little intense at times, but that’s just how people like her. Inspired by the Evangelion character Mari Illustrious Makinami.

You can purchase some of this tea over at the Blend’s page for $10 for a 3 ounce pouch or $24 for a tin.

Update (2/26/2013): They’ve now got an Asuka inspired tea called “Thermal Expansion”. Description: “Strong, intense and spicy. Try it straight, or add some sugar if you prefer her sweeter side.”

Udon Entertainment releasing Evangelion Chronicle: Illustrations, Side A and Side B

Evangelion Chronicle: Illustrations is a gorgeous, oversized (10” x 13”) artbook collecting more than 200 new illustrations created for the Evangelion Chronicle encyclopedia series, including pieces created exclusively for this volume. It also contains rough sketches, illustrator and creator commentary, and an amazing fold-out poster featuring a pretty epic battle between EVA-02 and the Evangelion Production Models.

It’s translated to English and is available from their site or places like Amazon or Barnes & Noble. Here’s a few more samples from the art book.

Extended “Sakura Nagashi” Promo Video (SPOILERS GALORE)

Debuting earlier today was an extended version of November 23’s Sakura Nagashi promo video, with around thirty seconds of additional footage at the beginning. If you are avoiding spoilers, and avoided the previous trailer, you especially want to avoid this one. However, for those following the movie details, this is definitely a must see, as some of the more mysterious things we’ve only heard about until now are finally showcased.

It is available from the official site, but only for those with a Japanese IP, and YouTube uploads are being automatically detected and deleted. So, enjoy a Mediafire link instead. Or if you’re in a hurry:

Evangelion Store Silhouette Updated

The silhouette outlines of the Evangelion cast that adorned the security door at the Real Evangelion Store in Harajuku, Tokyo, has finally been updated. There was a lot of speculation on the unrecongizable outlines that we saw almost a year ago, and for the people who’ve seen the new movies or have read spoilers, the mystery is all but solved, because the updated silhouette has the outline replaced with the actual characters each outline represents.

Because of this, the updated silhouette at the Evangelion Store will be spoilery for those trying to avoid them. For everyone else, you can see the updated wall by clicking on this link (all other avoiding spoilers, DO NOT CLICK ON THE LINK). For a full review of each of character who appears in 3.0, there’s an ongoing forum thread that includes character pictures.

New Evangelion 3.0 Music Trailer (Lots of Spoilers)

A new minute long trailer set to Utada Hikaru’s new song 「桜流し」 (Sakura nagashi) used at the end of the Evangelion 3.0 movie hit the internet today. Be warned, unlike the recent 15 second TV spot, this one’s filled with spoilers, and people who want to remain spoiler free should avoid it as many of the movie’s key scenes are present.

That being said, for those who don’t care about spoilers, this is going to be a field day. People who’ve been following synopsis, discussion, and the script translations can finally put some of the talk against actual visuals. Descriptions of some of the events, characters, and scenes can be seen visually in this trailer. Currently available on Youtube, unofficially.

The Utada song should be available along with the Evangelion 3.0 Official Sound Track on November 28th.

New Evangelion 3.0 TV Spot (Maybe Spoilers)

Amidst the torrent of activity surrounding the new movie, Evangelion 3.0, You can (not) redo, a new 15 second TV commercial was aired and made its way onto Youtube. Be warned, there are scenes which some may consider spoilers, though having seen the movie, none of them really exposes anything consequential to the plot. However, spoiler purists will want to avoid this, and as such, I’ll only provide a link instead of embedding it on the page.

You can see all of the trailers on the official site.

Spoiler-free review of Evangelion 3.0

This is going to need to be short as I don’t have solid internet access here in Nagoya. If you want to see a spoiler synopsis, you can read my synopsis of 3.0 in the Rebuild subforum.

As everyone already knows, this is all new territory here, we’re not in Kansas anymore. That said, I can’t quite put together my thoughts on Evangelion 3.0, You can (not) Redo into words because there’s nothing to really compare it to, or contrast it against. I think that I really need to have a good translation of the dialogue in order to really put any critical thought into it. I will say, though, that a few things bothered me, but I trust that at least some of them can be alleviated with better translation of the dialogue.

Other than that, there’s a lot of really good things about the movie. The opening scene is really quite incredible. There’s a lot of use of panning and revolving camera work. All the action is pretty good and the detail in some of the scenes are really phenomenal. There’s going to be quite a bit of discussion about this one, lots of questions, most without answers. I don’t envy the people who choose to stay spoiler-free at all.
