Update 2: Evangelion 1.0 screens in Chicago

A further update to the previous 2 posts, Evangelion 1.0 Screens in Chicago? and Update for Chicago Screening of 1.0, there will be a 1 time screening at the Century Centre Cinema on October 1st and a week-long screening at the Music Box Theatre starting on October 23rd. The Century Centre Cinema doesn’t have the movie listed on their website but the Music Box Theatre does have it listed as well as the opening date on October 23rd. It’s kind of funny to note that the poster they chose to put up is the fake fan-made Live Action Evangelion Movie poster that features Elijah Wood as Shinji.

Thanks to Brendan Jamieson for the info.

Evangelion Cells at Mandrake Auction

Mandrake Auctions put up an exhibit of several painted cells for auction on October 17th, including ones of Rei Ayanami, Asuka, Nadia, and various other shows. The cells, although painted on celluloid, were not used for production which explains the relatively cheap reference prices. Both Rei and Asuka are set at 63,000 yen while Nadia is set at 21,000.

Evangelion 1.01 DVD Release Announced

Last year, we posted about Funimation acquiring 1.0 and its planned release date. Although it was slated for a November 10th release this year, a recent announcement has it at November 17th. Although Funimation also has the rights to 1.11, the only projection is that it’ll be released on DVD and BluRay in the Spring of 2010.

Giant Evangelion 2.0 Poster up for Auction

109_Cinemas_Evangelion_posterYou can be a proud owner of a huge 3.5 meter by 18 meter Evangelion 2.0 weather resistant vinyl poster signed by Kazuya Tsurumaki. It was hung outside of the building at 109 Shibuya in Tokyo to promote the new movie. It is being auctioned for charity on the Japanese Yahoo Auctions site and the auction ends on August 19th. As of this posting, the current bid is 30,500円. Pretty steep, but this is a one-of-a-kind item and considering some 9 inch tall figures can run up to 15,000円, it’s not a ridiculous price.

These pictures were taken from the auction site, posted by jcv_charity, I’m reposting/mirroring the pictures here in case the auction page disappears.
