In my previous post I missed on the details for the simultaneous viewing events, which seem to be held in a talk show format complete with a celebrity host(MC) and guests. The URLs and details for the events are as follows, translated from the Khara Evangelion page –

Additionally, the same page announces a simultaneous viewing event for the three previous movies. Evangelion Jo (1.0), Ha (2.0), and Q (3.0, possibly 3.333) will be screened on the the official YouTube channel of Amazon Prime Video and twitter for 3 days, March 5 (Friday), 6 (Saturday), and 7 (Sunday), 2021. During the Q simultaneous viewing event on March 7, a new unreleased part will be added to the video released at the opening screening event “Operation 0706” held in 2019.
We have also decided to release “Evangelion New Theatrical Version + Shin Evangelion Theatrical Version Opening 12 minutes 10 seconds 10 frames”. This opening video will be streamed live on Prime Video’s official YouTube channel and twitter, and will be premiered on the official Khara YouTube channel.
While this might be a combination of AVANT 1 (screened in 2019 in Paris) and AVANT 2 or a lengthened version of AVANT 1 with extra cuts, the separate mention of “Operation 0706” possibly suggests that the footage might be new. Either way, it looks to be interesting.

Shin Eva will be screened on March 8 at the Grand Cinema Sunshine in Ikebukuro, Tokyo as early as 7:00 am with the final show at 17:15 for a total of 19 showtimes, which is significant thanks to the limited screentimes caused by the continuing state of emergency in the four key Japanese prefectures of Tokyo, Chiba, Kanagawa and Saitama. This is still significant considering the limited business hours imposed on theaters.

A tidbit from user GhostlyOcam (who is awesome) – Megumi Ogata has a new song for her new album written by Junichi Sato (of the band fhana) that she considered an unofficial “image song” for Shin Eva and Shinji.
GhostlyOcam also provided a translation of the quoted tweet –

This shows how deeply Evangelion influences both its creators and its fans – Shinji Ikari is still “a part of” his voice actor a quarter-century after his debut, and will remain a part of Megumi Ogata even after his journey in Shin Eva is finished. Official song or not, I think there are many of us who would understand her feelings.
A few things have happened lately. Like other news outlets have reported, the Japanese prefectures of Tokyo, Chiba, Kanagawa and Saitama have requested an additional two weeks of lockdown, with understandable public frustration.
This means that theaters in those prefectures will have to continue to operate under lockdown conditions, with reduced operating hours and additional seating restrictions. This is likely to bring down the opening week totals for Shin Eva, given the large population in those prefectures.
That being said, it appears that the movie is NOT in any danger of a delay, and tickets go on presale at midnight Japan time on Friday, March 5 (47 hours and 30 minutes from now)

Shin Eva’s runtime is 155 minutes, which is 1 minute longer than the previous Eirin report (and validates it!) and puts it as a contender for one of the longest animated movies of all time. That ought to be something to look forward to on March 8!

The Eirin site is unavailable for users outside of Japan, so we’ll have to wait for someone there to look up the Eirin Number. But this is solid information that the new movie is much longer than previous entries in the franchise (particularly Evangelion Q, which was only 1 hour 36 minutes long).
UPDATE: It is reported that the Eirin link has been pulled down, which suggests it was put up prematurely. However, there is no reason to doubt its veracity – it’s the real deal, folks.
